Default A few questions

Heyo!! Ok so it has been a few years since Ive played T4C and it looks like Realmud is my new home since all the servers I've ever played on are all gone.

I see a lot has been added since I last played and Im just looking for some general info regarding all this new content. I guess the best was to start is by giving you some idea of my play style then just listing a few questions.

Typically I have played mostly casters (int more than wis but have had plenty exp with both) tho I have played a warrior and archer to a lesser extent. Generally I prefer PVM to PVP but will not run away from a fight and will duel occasionally so I do like to be able to defend myself when necessary.

Here I find myself planning a build, looking through all the new items and trying to piece together what I think might make a suitable character. Suddenly I realize that I dont really have much idea what I will be faced with in all the new areas to explore. So here I am to try and get a general feel of the higher levels on Realmud as I try to plan my 3x. I will be going 4x with this char so this is not my final build but I will be playing it long enough to get myself into the new lands and get some first hand experience there.

With all that in mind here are a few questions:

1) As a paladin, would 180 end be enough to accomplish anything in the new higher level areas? Perhaps with enough passive healing?

2) Can a decently built archer or warrior handle the new PVM content alone well enough without having to run back to town every 30 min for pots?

3) Are there a lot of outright PK's that I need to constantly be on my toes and take into consideration when planning my build? I don't really mind them all that much as I know they are part of the game but I would like to be prepared if there are a lot of them around.

4) The new "battlemage" items look like they could make for a fun build. It looks like they are a more offensive based build than defensive. In general, how do they fair with the new content and/or in fighting off the random PK?

I guess ill stop here as this is getting a little long winded and I'm sure y'all don't want to read a book.

Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide to the aforementioned questions or just any tips / advice you can provide in general.

Never been much of a Pally person myself, but the new weapons take away from light power, so the hit heal is pretty much out of the question now making heal pretty useless...

Depending on the archer build 180 end is pretty dependent on others to make xp for them, where as 400end they can tank pretty decently themselves, you also need to count in the fever upside for you where it lowers the enemy resistances and powers and AC. They are also good for spawners and use fever to make mages kill faster.

Most warriors are either 350 or 400 end they do decently in new areas but as with all single target toons they are much better leeching xp while they do the spawning for mages.

Not too much pking just happens outright, but there are those select few that make it their duty to go looking people.

Battlemages are quite interesting, lots of different builds for them. 180 end with divine armor are great for pk, but lack the hp to stand out in a full duel, but with the less pts in end you could learn bless to downspell ppl. 400 end have lots of hp but their downside is the pvp weapon is gained late in lvls, strength is at least 100 less than others meaning less pots and less dmg and the PvM just doesnt cut it. My personal choice would be 300 end which is close to being in the middle of the two, by 177 you should be able to use all gear for PvP.

Most of all beware of fever arrows mixed with entangle can be a total disaster if you arent prepared

Any other questions reply to post, I or someone else should be able to help. Hopefully this will get you settled in for the time being.

Thanks for the info, that helps. Still not really sure which way I want to go but Im leaning twords mage for 3x as I can level faster and still get a good first hand feel for the new areas.

The only "new" stuff you will get to do is VIP if you are a paid member, because oing the quest to 4th island will be counter productive as a 3x as you will have to do it again, and its a time consuming process, also most players wont build for the endurance for armor to survive there. I would suggest just making it to 3x and collecting all your items for 4x's oracle access and 4th island quest.

If you need to know the new items or quests refer to Chichiri's Realmud Customizations Page
